If you’re a Pittsburgher, you probably know Sarris chocolates and jelly beans from your Easter basket, but did you know Sarris offers more than just delicious candy? Their store in Canonsburg includes a chocolate factory / ice cream parlour with Willy Wonka meets Candy Land-esque interior and charming decor. If you’re looking for a great way to cool down this summer, stop by for a hand spun milkshake or a scoop of ice cream.
Refresh with Frozen Treats
The Sarris Candy store front will greet you with whimsical candy cane coated telephone poles and playful decorations inside. The warm glow of the Sarris glows in the background as guests choose from a wide variety of ice cream flavors. We opted for two chocolate milkshakes- complete with whip cream, a praline stick and a cherry on top. We took a seat towards the back under the shimmering chandeliers, past the stained glass booths and next to the self-playing piano. For $1, it played two songs lasting about 5 minutes total while we sat back and sipped on our milkshakes… well, I sipped, my son danced. 🙂

Like Kids in a Candy Store
After that, we moved to the room next door – a fun room full of candy displays including a 1,500 pound chocolate castle; it took 8 workers nearly 3 months to complete! The Sarris store walls were beautifully adorned with hand painted murals and playful colors. Huge stuffed animals were gathered behind red velvet ropes and there was a great selection of penny candy and small knick-knacks for children to choose from.
Like kids in a candy store (har, har), we were excited to find yet another room full of candy to explore next door. Inside there was a large selection of Sarris candy favorites including chocolate, gifts baskets and more.

Tips on Planning a Playdate
Give yourself at least 30-45 minutes to stop by, eat ice cream and look around. No purchase necessary to enter the store, but chances are you’re not going to want to leave empty handed. If you’re in the neighborhood you may also want to check out the newly opened Bounce Planet or the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum.
