Woo-hoo! Summer is almost here which means many of you will be lathering up in sunscreen, heading outside and enjoying the great outdoors. Before you head out the door, make sure to check the calendar to ensure you’re not missing out on any fun! The month of May marks Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 11th) and Memorial Day (Monday, May 26th). If you haven’t made plans yet, don’t worry, there’s still time… kinda. If you’re planning on taking Mom out to eat, you may want to pick up the phone and make reservations ASAP as open seats fill up quickly (find Mother’s Day idea). Don’t forget the Pittsburgh Zoo will let Mom in FREE with the purchase of a child’s admission.
Later this month, celebrate Memorial Day weekend than with America’s largest fireworks festival! PyroFest is happening at Hartwood Acres on Saturday May, 24th (get discount tickets). Gates open at 3pm and there’s a children’s area with tons of activities, face painting, inflatables, games and crafts. Don’t forget to bring a blanket to sit and watch fireworks!

May also marks the arrival of a couple of new places to play! Planet Bounce, an inflatable indoor play space, will be having it’s Grand Opening Stellarbration in Canonsburg on May 3rd with FREE admission! If you can’t make it May 3rd, keep posted as I will be giving away 2 tickets so you can plan your own visit.
If you’re in the North Hills, you’ll be excited to hear that Fun Slides Carpet Skate Park will be opening a new location in Pines Plaza Shopping Center on Saturday, May 31st. If you’re not familiar with Fun Slides, it’s a great indoor play space for kids of all ages.

There’s a convenient map so you can see what’s going on in your neighborhood or nearby. All the event listings also include times, locations and contact information. You can also easily add events to your Google calendar!
