Thank you to Macy’s and BeEverywhere Society for sponsoring this opportunity! All opinions remain my own.
They grow up so fast, don’t they?! We’re heading to Kindergarten, y’all! Well… he is. I’ll be the tearful mother at the bus stop. While I know he’ll be just fine, I’m feeling a little torn between angst and excitement.
I’m so proud he’s grown into such a brave, outgoing and smart little boy and I know he’ll do just fine without me standing over his shoulder.
There’s so many things running through my mind.
…Will he find his homeroom OK? Will he make friends? Will he make it home on the bus? I want him to fit in… look cool… feel confident. Does that even matter in Kindergarten?
Confession: If it’s a mother’s job to worry, I’m putting in overtime.
2014 Boys Fall Fashion
I don’t pride myself as fashion savvy, but I’m trying to pull it together! I’ve done some research and put together my own guidelines for back-to-school buying and shopping. Here are three things I’m considering while filling up that back-to-school closet.
1. Trends
What’s popular for Fall 2014? Looks like layers! I really like the idea of putting graphic tees under button downs. It adds a bit of formality to otherwise basic t-shirts. I also found a bunch moto-cool inspired trends like leather (or pleather), modern,, dramatic and sleek.
I’ll be purchasing plenty of jeans in a variety of shades (light, dark, distressed, etc). I also love cargo pants for their comfort and durability (our favorite colors are copper khaki, tan, military green and grey).
2. Comfort/ Wearability
Mix & match is a must in any child’s wardrobe. While trends are great, it’s important for children to be true to their own personality.
Things my kid will never wear: skinny jeans, ties, heavy sweaters. I’ve tried. It doesn’t work. For my son, these things are less desirable than tags in his shirts.
If it were up to him, my son would wear pajamas everyday. Personally, I’m a fan of argyle and polos. I’m sure we can meet somewhere in between.
3. Personal Style
When you’re a young boy, sometimes I think it’s as simple as lots and lots of character tees. Among his favorites? Minecraft, Angry Birds, Minions and Avengers. I also foresee a lot of long sleeve crews this Fall.
I’m impressed with the fact that he’s starting an awesome collection of accessories (although not intentionally) including belts, wristbands, shark tooth necklaces and hats.
Celebrate Back-to-School with #MacysBTS
I was excited to learn that Macy’s will be holding a back-to-school event on August, 23rd at the Mall at Robinson location. It’s an afternoon of fashion and fun! I’m sure there will be plenty of inspiration for back-to-school looks. Make a $50 or more kids purchase and receive a cool new backpack (while supplies last).
Be sure to stop by for crafts, face painting, games, prizes and more! What a great way to kick off the school year!
Radio Disney will be there, too! Radio Disney is a 24-hour radio network that is completely family friendly and kid-safe. They play contemporary hits the whole family can enjoy.
You’ll also hear about MathStart, the award wining series created by Stuart J. Murphy. From patterns and counting to pre-algebra and negative numbers, math is taught through stories children love and visual models they can easily understand.
Don’t forget, the mall at Robinson also has the great indoor play area for younger children!
See you there!
So, if you’re looking to get the kids excited for back-to-school this weekend, stop by Macy’s at the Mall at Robinson. It’s all about memory making! We’ll be stopping by to check it out so I hope to see you there!
