Morning, TED
While most people would probably dread a 45 minute commute down RT51 every morning at 5:00am, it was actually something I would look forward to. No, I’m not insane… I just really enjoyed the time I got to spend by myself (with a sleeping child in the back seat) listening to my newest compilations of TEDtalks/TEDxTalks. Personally, they have proven to be an inspiring, thought-provoking and an overall great way to get the day started. I enjoyed starting my morning, for example, with Scott Dinsmore telling my to “live my legend”, Simmon Sinek telling me to “start with why” or Adam Baker simply telling me to “sell my crap, pay my debt and do what I love.”
In case your ears haven’t had the pleasure, TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to “ideas worth spreading.” The TED (Technology / Entertainment / Design) Conference was started over 25 years ago and brought together leading thinkers to touch upon almost all topics and explore world-changing ideas. While the TED Conference takes place once a year in Long, Beach California, there are also other independently organized versions called TEDx events.
TEDxGrandviewAve
April 26th, 2014 will mark the second annual TEDx event based in Pittsburgh: TEDxGrandviewAve. I’m excited to say, this will be my first TED event! The ticket was gifted to me by my amazing husband, who will also be my date. The theme this year will be “Dare to Create;” a fitting title for a event hosted in a town built on leadership and ingenuity. At 11:00am, speakers will begin taking the stage at New Hazlett Theater, celebrating “the people of Pittsburgh who dare to create, while inspiring others to take action and follow their lead.” You can find more information about the speakers here. The conference wraps up at 6:00pm when after party begins at the National Aviary. Food, drinks, music and a chance to connect with community… hope to see you there!
