If you’re looking for a waterpark near Pittsburgh that feels like a mini family vacation, Yogi Bear’s Mill Run Water Zone might deserve a spot on your summer bucket list.

Located in Mill Run, Pennsylvania, about an hour from Pittsburgh, this family-friendly destination looks more like a resort than a typical neighborhood pool.

As a Pittsburgh mom, I’m always on the lookout for fun day trips that don’t require hours in the car. Whether you’re planning a day visit or a weekend camping getaway, Yogi Bear Jellystone Park offers plenty of ways for families to cool off and make the most of summer.

First Impression

What surprised me most was how much it felt like a vacation destination rather than just a place to swim. The campground, cabins, activities, and water attractions all work together to create a resort-like atmosphere that’s hard to find this close to Pittsburgh.

Honestly, it was one of those places where I immediately thought, ‘How have I never heard of this before?

What You’ll Find at the Water Zone

Water Slides

If your kids love water slides, they’ll have plenty to keep them busy here. Several larger slides twist and turn down from elevated platforms, adding a little excitement for older kids, teens, and adventurous adults.

Interactive Splash Area

The interactive splash zone is easily one of the most eye-catching areas of the park.

Kids can climb through colorful structures, dodge sprays from water cannons, race down smaller slides, and, of course, wait for the giant dumping bucket to tip overhead. You can usually tell when it’s about to happen because a crowd of excited children starts gathering underneath.

This area seemed especially popular with elementary-aged kids, but I spotted plenty of toddlers and older children enjoying it as well.

Pools and Water Play Areas

In addition to the slides and splash features, the Water Zone also includes pools where families can cool off and take a break from the action.

The main pool provides plenty of room to swim, while younger visitors have access to shallower areas designed with smaller children in mind. One thing I appreciated was that the park didn’t feel crowded or cramped. Families had room to spread out, claim a spot for their belongings, and settle in for the day.

Beyond the Waterpark

One thing that makes Jellystone Park different from a traditional waterpark is that the fun doesn’t stop when everyone is done swimming.

Our trip to Yogi Bear Mill Run was an absolute blast! There is an entire campground filled with family friendly activities and attractions. Depending on when you visit, you may find character appearances, games, crafts, wagon rides, and other family-friendly entertainment taking place throughout the campground.

There is a small restaurant on-site with a general store for any last minute items or souvenirs.
