FREE Admission to the Children’s Museum – Kick Off to Summer Free Day

Join the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh to kick off summer! Enjoy free Museum admission all day long, plus a day full of fun inside the Museum and in Buhl Community Park.

• Visit permanent exhibits, including the museum’s newest exhibit, Very Eric Carle, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
• Use different materials to help create a huge web in MAKESHOP, 10:00 am – 4:30 pm
• Explore the art of illustration as we take inspiration from the words of author and illustrator Eric Carle in the Studio, 10:00 am – 4:30 pm
• Get in the spirit of summer by chalking up our endless indoor sidewalk, 10:00 am – 4:30 pm
• Try your hand at plein air painting in the Backyard Studio with guest artist Lena Loshonkohl, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Performances:

• See a performance by Soundwaves Steelband, Kelly Strayhorn Theater’s premier youth steelband featuring students ages 12–18, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
• Get down to your favorite tunes at the Kid City Rockers Dance Party with DJ KellyMom, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
• Check out a musical performance by youth performers Sunburst Rocks that focuses on teamwork, performance, creativity and songwriting, 3:30 – 4:30 pm

Outdoor Activities:

• Create art in the style of Eric Carle. Explore the artist’s innovative techniques for making large scale murals, using a variety of unique tools, like brooms and mops, to create texture, depth and rich color fields on sheets of Tyvek.
• Take a break from the crowds by lounging kiddie poolside outside in Buhl Community Park
  Run, jump, and skip through sprinklers and our permanent misting art installation Cloud Arbor

To maximize the fun, choose clothes you won’t mind getting wet or bring a bathing suit.
