Opened in early summer of 2014, the Warrington spray park in Beltzhoover in the newest edition to Pittsburgh’s Citiparks Spray Parks. It’s located directly behind the the Warrington Community Center, nearby basketball courts, large green field and playground. The area itself is fenced in and there’s plenty of on street parking. A lifeguard is on duty while the spray park is open. There are restrooms with a small changing area and lockers (you can bring your own lock).
The Warrington Spray park features include misters, a water dome, in-ground sprinklers, overhead sprinklers and really cool dragon themed water hoops complete with a dragon head that spits water and a tails that sprinkles. A helpful tip: there’s a short blue pole with a red cap (an activation bollard) towards the front of the park that turns the water on- simply press down on the top and it turns on the water dome, in-ground sprinklers and sprayers.
You’ll have to walk around the building to access the playground. It’s a small, shaded area with swings and rubber coated ground. While the playground looked relatively new, the area around it definitely needed some maintenance. Nonetheless, the basketball court and field were in great condition.
There are tons of options when it comes to Pittsburgh spray parks, and because this one didn’t blow us away and it’s a bit of a drive, we probably won’t be visiting again soon. However, it is a wonderful feature and definitely a must-visit location if you live nearby!
