DESCRIPTION:The Carnegie Science Center hosts overnight sleepovers. Bring your family or Scout troop on a science siesta! Discover the science of shuteye as you explore circadian rhythms and hibernation. Investigate ultraviolet light in our glow room. Test your reflexes in our simulated sleep deprivation challenge and make a sleep mask to help you slumber the night away. You might get to snooze next to R2-D2\, dream beside seahorses\, or catch some Z’s near a space station. \nCheck-in begins at 6 pm the evening of your sleepover\, where you will receive a detailed schedule of the night’s happenings. The overnight experience will begin with a brief orientation\, after which participants will enjoy a night of themed activities. Lights-out is at midnight. DESCRIPTION:It is clear we are at a time when learning is being remade\, inside and outside of the traditional classroom.  While there is no doubt that formal classrooms and the amazing teachers who lead those classrooms will continue to be among the primary nurturers of our children\, it is also becoming clear that\, in our digital age\, learning is extending beyond the classroom to include museums\, libraries\, reuse organizations\, maker spaces and digital labs.  The 2014 conference\, “Inviting Ideas\, Inspiring Innovation\,” will feature sessions that explore educational innovation occurring in all of those spaces\, and others. The conference will highlight presentations from providers\, parents\, teachers\, artists\, scientists\, designers\, and just about anyone aiming to improve learning experiences for our children. \n  \nBroad topics of interest include: \n\nPlay\nTechnology\nGames\nArt\nMusic\nPhysical design of a child’s environment\nPhilosophy of education as it is being innovated\nEmotional and social well-being of children\nInclusion of children with disabilities\nEngagement of individuals invested in children\nHolistic relationship of caregiver\, family\, and support network

This event is open to the public for\ncompetitive and casual runners and walkers- great event for families and children! \n• The 2 loop certiied course starts and ends at the South Ridge Swimming Pool at North Park. Course is lat with rolling hills.\n• All 5K runners will be issued a timing chip.\n• Race results will be posted at race site and on The Runners High website.\n• 5K trophies and prizes awarded to Top 3 Overall male/female\, Top 3 Masters male/ female (40 and over)\n• 5K trophies awarded to Top 3 in each age group male/female: 8 & under\, 9-11\, 12 – 15\, 16 -19\, 20 – 29\, 30 – 39\, 40 – 49\, 50 – 59\, and 60+\n• Free kids activities and family fun will follow the race!\n• Baby joggers and strollers are permitted\, however\, for the safety of our runners no pets\, bicycles\, skates or skateboards are allowed.\n• Packet pick up 7:30am\, October 18th\, at race registration table. \nSaturday\, October 18\, 2014 – Rain or Shine\n\n7:30AM Registration\n8:30AM 1 Mile Family Run/Walk Start\n9:15AM 5K Start\nKids Activities and Family Fun to follow the race!!\n\nIndividuals may register by mail (via ‘individual registration form) or online at Race360 (link is on brochure).
