DESCRIPTION:The Allegheny Observatory is an astronomical research institution\, a part of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh. The facility is listed on the National Register of Historical Places and is designated as a Pennsylvania state and Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation historic landmark. \nNight tours are every Thursday from from April through August. \nAll tours begin at 8 p.m. and last until approximately 10 p.m. A short slide or film presentation is shown followed by a walking tour of the building finally ending up at the 13″ Fitz-Clark refractor (one of only two in existence). If it’s a clear night you would be shown whatever celestial objects are within range of the telescope that night. The tours are free of charge but you must have a reservation. To make a reservation call 412-321-2400 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Marchers carrying flags representing each service branch will participate and escort 8-10 riflemen who will serve as an honor guard attending to the flags. \nPrior to the parade\, the Veterans Memorial Committee will be sponsoring coffee and doughnuts at 7:20 a.m. in Bethel Park’s Municipal Council Chambers followed by a 7:30 a.m. ceremony at the Veteran’s Memorial located in front of the Municipal Building. Additional names will be added to the over 3\,500 already in place on the Veteran’s Memorial representing those from the American Revolution to today. \nFollowing the ceremony\, the Memorial Day Parade will begin at the Municipal Building and end at the Bethel Cemetery\, adjacent to Bethel Presbyterian Church on Bethel Church Road. A Memorial Day service will be held immediately after the parade. The public is encouraged to attend and participate in honoring our veterans. \nAnyone wishing to be in the parade can contact George Tracey at 412-600-6725. In case of rain\, the Memorial Service will be moved to Bethel Park Community Center.

DESCRIPTION:The Allegheny Observatory is an astronomical research institution\, a part of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh. The facility is listed on the National Register of Historical Places and is designated as a Pennsylvania state and Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation historic landmark. \nNight tours are every Thursday from from April through August. \nAll tours begin at 8 p.m. and last until approximately 10 p.m. A short slide or film presentation is shown followed by a walking tour of the building finally ending up at the 13″ Fitz-Clark refractor (one of only two in existence). If it’s a clear night you would be shown whatever celestial objects are within range of the telescope that night. The tours are free of charge but you must have a reservation. To make a reservation call 412-321-2400 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Fun Slides Carpet Park is a 12\,000 sq ft indoor play area with ramps\, jumps and grind rails under a blacklight atmosphere. It’s a safe yet thrilling alternative to skate boarding\, inline and ice skating\, carpet skating is fun for all ages. Unlike other sports that take lots of practice\, carpet skating takes only minutes until you are confidently sliding around. Once you get the hang of it\, you can become an advanced skater with just a couple of days of practice. The park is divided in sections based on skill level and only advanced skaters are permitted in some areas. All first time skaters are assigned a skate instructor until they are comfortable to skate on their own.
