If it’s a clear night you would be shown whatever celestial objects are within range of the telescope that night. The tours are free of charge but you must have a reservation. To make a reservation call 412-321-2400 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

SUMMARY:Art All Night
DESCRIPTION:Art All Night is an annual community art show in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood that goes from 4 pm\, Saturday April 26th until 2 pm Sunday\, April 27th. Members of the community started the event as a way to showcase art–with no fee\, censorship or jury. The mission of Art All Night is to include everyone’s art\, regardless of age or experience level. The event grew to include on-site painting\, a live art auction\, and interactive activities for children and adults. The entire event is always free for everyone–artists and visitors alike. Each year\, hundreds of kids submit their own pieces to Art All Night and then return to see their artwork displayed for over 15\,000 visitors.

DESCRIPTION:The Carnegie Science Center hosts overnight sleepovers. Bring your family or Scout troop on a science siesta! Discover the science of shuteye as you explore circadian rhythms and hibernation. Investigate ultraviolet light in our glow room. Test your reflexes in our simulated sleep deprivation challenge and make a sleep mask to help you slumber the night away. You might get to snooze next to R2-D2\, dream beside seahorses\, or catch some Z’s near a space station. \nCheck-in begins at 6 pm the evening of your sleepover\, where you will receive a detailed schedule of the night’s happenings. The overnight experience will begin with a brief orientation\, after which participants will enjoy a night of themed activities. Lights-out is at midnight. DESCRIPTION:The Allegheny Observatory is an astronomical research institution\, a part of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh. The facility is listed on the National Register of Historical Places and is designated as a Pennsylvania state and Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation historic landmark. \nNight tours are every Thursday from from April through August. \nAll tours begin at 8 p.m. and last until approximately 10 p.m. A short slide or film presentation is shown followed by a walking tour of the building finally ending up at the 13″ Fitz-Clark refractor (one of only two in existence). If it’s a clear night you would be shown whatever celestial objects are within range of the telescope that night. The tours are free of charge but you must have a reservation. To make a reservation call 412-321-2400 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
