DESCRIPTION:The Festival is a three day celebration that has many events such as a dog show\, live entertainment\, a 10K / 5K race\, ethnic foods\, children’s area\, a teen dance\, and much more. The festival is held at the Gazebo in Scottdale on the corner of Pittsburgh street and Spring Street. The festival is always held the third weekend in September. The Scottdale Fall festival is one of three major festivals the Scottdale community has to look forward to. In the summer of 2012 The Mamalukes started recording their second CD\, “Misguided Adventures\,” that was released in January 2013 at Pittsburgh’s Altar Bar. In October 2013 more changes came\, when a new drummer\, Mike “Spider” Guido joined the band. Nicky Mo & the Mamalukes have strong original material and have been an opener for national touring acts and also bring an impressive song list made up of classic rock and standard blues to play all-nighters. They enlisted the amazing talents of keyboardist/guitarist Adam Heusey and guitar play extraordinaire George Kaintzis. Playing and touring for three straight years\, countless miles\, the core of the band has been forged into a powerhouse non-stop party band. DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Irish Festival\, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation created to contribute to the rich cultural awareness of Irish history and tradition that exists in Pittsburgh. In addition to our three day “Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Festival\,” the Pittsburgh Irish Festival has expanded into a year-round resource for education and cultural programs through the creation of the Irish Education Outreach Program. The Program’s primary objective is to create a higher awareness of the ethnic richness and significance of the Irish and Irish-American culture and presence\, from both a historic and contemporary perspective. In-service consultants are available to community groups and organizations as well as to interested school districts. In addition to cultural presentations\, our consultants provide Irish studies workshops for teachers.
