Thank you to Kennywood for sponsoring this post. All opinions are remain my own!
We’re so lucky to have so many amazingly fun things to do in and around the Pittsburgh area. You don’t have to travel far to visit an award winning amusement park – Kennywood is right around the corner and they’re open for their 2017 season! We’ve loved visiting Kennywood for years because they have everything from thrill rides, roller coasters, shows and even an entire kiddieland full of children’s rides. It’s plenty of family fun all in one location.

Planning Your Visit
Kennywood is located at 4800 Kennywood Boulevard, West Mifflin, PA 15122
It’s just 12 miles southeast of Downtown Pittsburgh, Parking is free!
If you’re looking to avoid a huge crowd, the lightest crowds tend to be on Sundays in May (closed first Sunday in May) or June, most any weekday throughout the summer and Memorial Day. Feel free to pack a picnic and bring food and drink (no alcohol or glass bottles) into the the park – although they do have plenty of dining options available.
Kennywood has plenty of special events during the 2017 summer season. If you’re planning a special day with the kids I’d suggest checking out Kennywood Kidfest June 27-28 (Tuesday & Wednesday). Kids will have the opportunity to meet & greet with princesses, superheros, mascots and cartoon stars. Sounds like fun, right?!
If you’re planning to be in the area for a while you can also check out Sandcastle Waterpark and the Waterfront Shopping Center located nearby!
